Florida saw an increase in the number of “ultra-wealthy” millionaires in 2014.

A recent report by the research firm Wealth-X says almost 500 individuals with a net worth of $30 million or more listed Florida as their primary business address this year.

Wealth-X’s Business Development Manager for the Americas Pat Hoover said that number is a mix of individuals.

“I think it’s really a combination of a lot of different things. People moving into the state. The increasing wealth that we have in our state,” she said.

It brings the total number of these individuals to about 4,700 statewide.

The news follows another recent report by the United Way. That report said about 45 percent of Florida households struggle to cover basic necessities.
