A bill allowing 64 ounce growlers is headed to the floor of the Florida Senate.

Sen. Jack Latvala’s (R-Clearwater) annual growler bill passed its final committee Thursday.  This year it’s been amended to make it easier for craft brewers to set up on-site tasting rooms.  Sen. Rob Bradley (R-Orange Park) says the changes will be good for the industry.

“You know when we started this session there were lawsuits, there was uncertainty,” Bradley says, “and now we’re at the cusp of providing clear rules that I think strikes an appropriate balance between allowing and encouraging the growth of an emerging industry with craft beer, and preserving the integrity of the three tier system.”

Bradley introduced an amendment to cap the number of tasting room licenses a brewer can hold at nine.  The House companion allows the 64 ounce growler, but doesn’t include the licensing language.
