Florida Republican Congressmen Respond To Trump Controversies

Florida Republican members of Congress are calling for former FBI director James Comey to testify about alleged White House interference into its Russia investigation. But Sen. Marco Rubio said people shouldn’t rush to judgment on media reports.

President Donald Trump is alleged to have passed classified information to the Russians. It's also alleged he tried to get the former FBI director to end the Russia investigation. The White House denies that either happened.

Rubio tells Fox News Congress needs James Comey to testify and hand over any related memos.

“Unless you were there, no one knows entirely what happened," he said. "So, we need to establish facts before we jump to conclusions. And whatever the facts are, I’m going to always do what’s right for the United States of America first and foremost.”

Rubio ran for another Senate term pledging to stand up to Trump. Miami Rep. Carlos Curbelo said the president may have committed a crime.

“Any effort to stop the federal government from conducting an investigation, any effort to dissuade federal agents from proceeding with an investigation is very serious and could be construed as obstruction of justice," he said.

Curbelo said the truth must be exposed.
