As Hurricane Season Ends, Gov. Scott Notes Some Lessons Learned

Thursday marked the end of Hurricane Season, and Governor Rick Scott is noting lessons to apply next year.

For Hurricane Irma, Governor Scott says there were many areas where the state did well.

“We’ve had three hurricanes actually in the last year and this year, and everybody worked well together,” he said, speaking recently to reporters. “We’ve got shelters open, our school districts did an unbelievable job helping us get our shelters open. Our utilities worked well together. I mean everybody wanted their power back in a day, but we got our power back on quickly.”

But, Scott says he’s also taking note of lessons to remember.

“You always learn something,” he added. “I’ll tell you…everybody had generators. This last time, we started running low on propane. I’m going to make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

Meanwhile, Scott is working to assist Puerto Rico with hurricane relief efforts following Hurricane Maria.
