No Mail On Wednesday; Post Offices Closed For Day Of Mourning

Jessica Palombo

Those planning to mail holiday gifts on Wednesday can avoid some frustration by steering clear of post offices. They won’t be open.

The U.S. Postal Service is shutting all retail branches and halting regular mail delivery as part of the national day of mourning for the late President George H.W. Bush.  Limited package delivery will continue.

But that doesn’t mean packages can’t get moving toward their destinations. Both FedEx and UPS stores will remain open as usual, spokespeople for both companies confirmed.

The post office will resume normal operations on Thursday.
