Pearl Harbor Commemoration Events

The “day that will live in infamy” – December 7, 1941, Pearl Harbor Day – will be commemorated during an 11 a.m. service today at the Hillsborough Veterans Memorial Park and Museum, 3602 U.S. Highway 301 N. in Tampa.

The 75th Anniversary Remembrance will honor U.S. military service members who died during the attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The event will include presentations by:

·        LeRoy Collins, III, son of Rear Adm. LeRoy Collins, Jr.

·        Gen. James Dozior, U.S. Army, Retired

·        Sgt. Edward DeMint, U.S. Army Air Corps, National Commander of American Ex-Prisoners of War Association, and former Korean War prisoner of war

·        MacDill Air Force Base 75th Anniversary celebration

The University of South Florida Sarasota/Manatee campus is inviting local veterans and the public to a 75th Anniversary Pearl Harbor commemoration starting at 4 p.m. in the courtyard at USF Sarasota-Manatee, 8350 N. Tamiami Trail Sarasota, FL 34243. 

Local WWII Pearl Harbor veterans will be honored and retired Army Col. Linda Gould will speaker. There will be refreshments and a World War II-era Jeep and cargo truck on display. Additionally, local World War II and Pearl Harbor veterans will be honored.
