WUSF Wins Two Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards

WUSF has won two regional 2014 Edward R. Murrow Awards.

And they both went to…. drum roll please…. WUSF reporter Bobbie O’Brien. For Best Feature Reporting for her story on Autism Defined by Those with the Diagnosis that she did with our intern, Andrew Casey; and for best Sports Reporting for Veteran Athletes Give Super Effort in Super G.

Both were outstanding works that now have national recognition.

Bobbie’s stories will automatically be entered in the Radio Television Digital News Association's (RTDNA) national competition later this year.

This isn't the first time Bobbie's works have been recognized by her peers.

Her work has been honored by the Society of Professional Journalists, the Radio and Television News Directors Association, Public Radio News Directors Inc., American Women in Radio & Television, the Florida Associated Press and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.

Bobbie produces the blog, Off the Base, and covers military affairs, veterans’ issues and military families. She was named a Rosalyn Carter Fellow in 2010-2011.

Steve Newborn is a WUSF reporter and producer at WUSF covering environmental issues and politics in the Tampa Bay area.
