The birthplace of the Cuban sandwich isn't Havana, or even Miami...it's Tampa.

The sandwich itself consists of sugar-cured ham, shredded pork marinated Cuban sytle, Genoa salami, Swiss cheese, yellow mustard, sour pickle and authentic Cuban bread.
Cuban immigrants invented the sandwich around the turn of the last century in Ybor City. That was the city's cigar-making district and a melting pot of Cubans, Spanish, Italians and others.
The Tampa City Council is set to debate a motion to rename it the "Tampa Cuban Sandwich" later this month.
