The Internet may be the place for music sales nowadays, but vinyl enthusiasts want to show there's still a place for records by celebrating Record Store Day.
The 7th annual Record Store Day is scheduled Saturday, April 19, 2014, in more than 1,000 stores across the world.
Buyer and inventory manager for Sound Exchange in Tampa, Steve Crace, said in the past, all sorts of people would stop in on Record Store Day.
“We get everything from collectors, a lot of college age kids such as yourself come out. There has been a huge resurgence in vinyl the last three to four years,” Crace said. “And Record Store Day, it's kind of interesting, it came around at the right time as we are beginning to see a resurgence in vinyls.”
The Tampa Bay area has seven local stores that plan to acknowledge Record Store Day Saturday by having rare releases, sales and in-store concerts at the independent shops.
