Last year, visitors to Tampa’s Amalie Arena could "swim" in a million white plastic balls at an interactive exhibit called "The Beach.”
Now, Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik is bringing another large-scale public art project to the city.
If you’ve ever wondered what the Mona Lisa might look like if Leonardo Da Vinci owned a set of Legos, you'll soon be able to see for yourself.
A recreation of the famous painting is just one of 100 pieces in "The Art of the Brick” which arrives in downtown Tampa in late June.
Artist Nathan Sawaya said he uses Lego bricks as his medium because he enjoys seeing people’s reactions to artwork made entirely with the toy building blocks.
Visitors will also see a 20-foot-long T-Rex dinosaur skeleton and can create their own Lego works of art.
The exhibit will be set up in a warehouse on East Whiting Street in the Channelside district. The show will be on view Wednesdays through Sundays, June 23 to Sept. 4 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. No tickets are required.
