Mindy Thomas, co-host of NPR's "Wow in the World" podcast for children and families is bringing her Wow In The World Pop Up Party to the Tampa Theatre on April 6th. It's the show's only performance in Florida.
Thomas created the podcast with Guy Raz and calls it a "fun cartoon for the ears." She has the perfect target audience for the show in her son, Rhett, who is a fifth grader.
Like the podcast, the party includes interactive STEM-themed games and sound effects-laden comedy skits woven between science-themed songs from The Pop Ups. Three time Grammy nominees Jacob Stein and Jason Rabinowitz created the theme song for the "Wow in the World" podcast.
Young scientists in the audience will be invited on stage to be lab assistants and game show contestants.
Thomas describes the live show this way: "It's a variety show, it's action-packed, it's interactive, we bring audience members up on stage, we do some science experiments, it's full of surprises, there are lots and lots of eggs in the performance." But she wouldn't elaborate on how those eggs might be used.
