Florida Matters Preview: Sea Level Rise

Flickr

Many scientists have expressed concerns that rising sea levels and growing population could be problematic for Florida's coastal communities.

This week on Florida Matters we're talking about the impact of sea level rise in the Sunshine State and what some local governments are doing to prepare for it.

We'll also hear feedback on the topic from some members of our audience.

In this preview, Tampa City Council Member Harry Cohen and South Florida environmental lawyer Stephen Tilbrook respond to a question about regional planning for sea level rise from concerned listener Susan Glickman with the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy.

I cover health care for WUSF and the statewide journalism collaborative Health News Florida. I’m passionate about highlighting community efforts to improve the quality of care in our state and make it more accessible to all Floridians. I’m also committed to holding those in power accountable when they fail to prioritize the health needs of the people they serve.
