Various immigration activists have come together into what they're calling The Florida Caravan for Immigration Reform. They visited Senator Marco Rubio's office in Tampa today.
A group of about 30 people stood with puppets and signs saying "Keep Families Together" as a few of them told their stories.
One of them was Jesus Guevara* from Lakeland. Standing with his 5 year old daughter by his side, Guevara says he worries about his family being separated due to his pending deportation.
"I want them to help me with my problem," he said.
"Not just me but all the other families too because I see on TV how they leave their kids alone crying in schools as their parents leave them at school and the police grab them and the problem starts... We ask Senator Marco Rubio to help us."
Guevara along with a few others walked into Senator's Rubio's office to retell their stories and deliver a petition signed by more than 2,300 Floridians asking for Rubio's support in a pathway to citizenship.
The Florida Caravan started traveling to congressmen's offices across the state on March 1st in Orlando.
Their final stop with 200 members will be March 10th in Miami at the Calle Ocho Festival- an annual event that celebrates Latino culture.
