St. Pete Residents Can Weigh In on Pier Designs

tampabay.com

If you live in St. Petersburg, you can now weigh in on the designs for the new pier, through March 6th.

The powers that be aren't bound by the survey, but it will inform their next meeting on March 20th. The survey results will be announced on March 9th.

You can see the concepts and designs for the new pier here.

In the summer of 2013, voters in St. Petersburg went to the polls and a majority of them killed a project called "The Lens," designed by Michael Maltzan Architecture.

The city has had a pier since the late 19th century, and its most recent incarnation the "Inverted Pyramid" was a popular draw that stood since 1973.  City officials closed the Pier in 2013 because of deteriorating pillars on the causeway leading from downtown.

I love telling stories about my home state. And I hope they will help you in some way and maybe even lift your spirits.
