Pasco Sheriff team deploying to Southwest Florida

After Hurricane Irma ravaged parts of Florida and left others with minor clean up, neighbors are helping neighbors with food and other supplies.

Tampa Police Department and the Pasco Sheriff's Department are sending officers and dispatchers to help in hard-hit Collier County. That is where Irma first made landfall on the Florida Peninsula, in Marco Island.

St. Petersburg Community Intervention Director Kenny Irby has set up drop-off locations to collect supplies for people who need food and emergency supplies after Irma. They include:

  • Mt. Zion Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 955 20th St. South, St. Petersburg
  • Greater Mt. Zion AME, 1045 16th Street South, St. Petersburg
  • Christ Gospel Church, 2512 22nd Ave. South, St. Petersburg
I love telling stories about my home state. And I hope they will help you in some way and maybe even lift your spirits.
