Natalia Clement
Natalia Clement is a summer intern for WLRN, South Florida’s public radio news outlet. Sheenjoys producing multimedia content that covers local breaking news and current topics of interest.
Her career as a journalistbegan back in elementary school, as a school news anchor. She noticed that throughout her life she was always involved in telling stories, which led her to formally pursue journalism in college.Natalia will be graduating this summer from Florida International University’s School of Communication and Journalism, where she is also studying social media marketing.
She gained experience in local and multimedia coverage through her work with the South Florida Media Network(SFMN), FIU’s student-produced news site. Natalia also became an AP style lover during her time as copy editor for SFMN. She is the president of the Society of Professional Journalists chapter at FIU. Under her guidance, the organization began a social media content production project that covered all things news and journalism. Natalia previously interned at Univision, where she produced digital and social media content for the New York and Miami stations.
Radio journalism was not originally part of Natalia’s plans, but she quickly embraced it after putting together a panel with WLRN reporters and producers. Their passion inspired Natalia to apply for this internship. She views radio as a powerful medium to connect with others and tell impactful stories.
Natalia was born in Bogota, Colombia, but calls Miami her home. She loves the hustle and energy of big cities, which is why she plans on moving to New York in the future. In her spare time you will find Natalia outside, exploring South Florida’s natural landscape. Like almost every other Gen Zer, Natalia enjoys consuming content and connecting with others online. She believes that the future of journalism lies in the hands of her generation, who will shift the industry’s focus to the digital and social media landscapes.Natalia’s ultimate goal is to have her own media company.
