Odalis Garcia
Odalis Garcia is a recent graduate from The New School in New York City where she majored in Journalism with a minor in Religious Studies. Through that she found a love of storytelling. People have so much to say but there are some who are kept quiet or not allowed to have a seat at the table. Odalis hopes to use her work and her words to allow these voices to tell their stories in a fair way. Odalis also spent her time managing the social media for her college and her school's newspaper. It's always the best excuse to have Twitter and Instagram open at all times.
She spends time watching every TV show she possibly can, using a Google spreadsheet to organize the ones she's up to date on. Currently there are over 30 shows on that list. On occasion Odalis will yell about these shows to her friends and will blog about those feelings. She wants to challenge the way in which people talk about the supposed inanity of pop culture because people tend to not realize that it is what influences our daily lives and the way in which we perceive the world. TV and film is where we see our lives represented and it informs how we relate to those around us. Odalis is originally from Puerto Rico but calls Miami home and is very passionate about Cuban food, empanadas, and the salsa dancing emoji.
