Feel like you’re barraged with political ads every time you turn on the TV? That’s because you are.
According to this map in the Washington Post, Tampa is No. 1 in the amount of money the presidential candidates and groups supporting them have spent on television campaign ads this year.
So far, they've spent more than $13 million in the Tampa Bay media market. The only other markets that come close are Charlotte, N.C., and Orlando.
Political consultant and blogger Peter Schorsch says the spending proves how crucial the I-4 corridor will be in November -- especially for Republican Mitt Romney.
"Mitt Romney has a Florida problem," says Schorsch, who writes SaintPetersBlog.
"For whatever reason, he has not been able to break through with Sunshine State voters. Republicans cannot win the White House without winning Florida," he says.
And right now, Obama appears to be winning the ad wars. USA Today and Gallup asked swing-state voters if all this advertising has changed their minds.
Of the people who said "yes," more than three-quarters now support Obama.
