Storms Crushes Turner in GOP Hillsborough Property Appraiser Race

Bobbie O'Brien

Republicans were decisive when selecting a candidate to run for Hillsborough County Property Appraiser in the general election. State Sen. Ronda Storms handily defeated incumbent Rob Turner who admitted earlier this year to sending pornographic images to a former employee.

Storms crushed the 16-year incumbent property appraiser with 70 percent of the vote. She attributed the win to the voters valuing integrity above all else.

“Everything else it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter if you can make the trains run on time if you’re, you know, if you’re not serving with personal integrity,” Storms said.

Storms must still win the general election, but she is already thinking about the workers at the Hillsborough County Appraiser's Office who will have a new boss in a few months.

“Anytime you have the kind of scandal that has been widely reported, then the employees who are there suffer,” Storms said. “I hope to restore, you know, a positive employee morale in the office.”

Former state Rep. Bob Henriquez, a Democrat, and two candidates with no party affiliation, James DiMio and Rob Townsend, face-off against Storms in the general election.
