Both President Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney campaigned in Florida Thursday, trying to sway voters in the nation's largest swing state. Romney went on the offensive, saying the President is throwing in the towel on the economy.
Romney revved up a crowd of several thousand people in the courtyard of the Ringling Museum in Sarasota. Romney made no mention of his previous comments that forty-seven percent of the country would vote for the president, no matter what. He instead attacked the president twice for "surrender" in the battle to improve the economy.
"The president today threw in the white flag of surrender again," he said. "He said he can't change Washington from the inside. He can only change it from outside. Well, we're going to give him that chance in November. He's going outside."
Romney was alluding to a statement Mr. Obama made earlier in the day in Miami.
