Changes Might Be Coming to Florida's Voting Laws

Florida's legislative session doesn't start for two months, but already both Republicans and Democrats appear to agree that voting laws need to be changed.

Some legislators say they're embarrassed with Florida's election performance in November. It took several days to determine who won the presidential race in Florida.

State Rep. Darryl Rouson is sponsoring a bill that changes voting laws, and Rep. Mark Danish is cosponsoring it. Danish spoke to Florida Matters about election laws.

"We need to set it back to where it was before where it was bipartisan," said the Tampa Democrat. "I think that this past election was a disaster for us."

And Republican state Sen. Tom Lee says he's okay with more early voting days.

"We've expanded early voting and now it has become an entitlement, there's no question about it," Lee said.

"But that's not to say that I don't support increasing early voting," Lee said.

The Senate is holding hearings on elections starting on Monday.
