The usual summer rainstorms held off for a day, so several thousand people crowding into Tampa's Museum of Science and Industry's parking lot for the once-in-a-generation solar eclipse didn't walk away empty-handed. And the special telescopes set up were a big hit with some of the younger set.
Jacqueline York of Tampa waited through the long lines so her daughters Eva, Norah and Ellie could look to the sky with special glasses provided by MOSI.
"I see the sun, and it looks like a half-moon," said Eva. "I see a moon up in the sky...," said Ellie.
York home-schools her children, and made it part of their curriculum to witness an eclipse.
"I obviously have never seen anything like this before," she said. "so it's really neat to be able to teach them about it and share with them, and see it together. It's something that won't happen again for quite some time."
If you missed this eclipse, you'll only have to wait until 2023 for your next chance.
