Interim president Rhea Law, who was asked to consider taking over as USF's next president, is a finalist along with retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Talley.

Law joins at least 11 other candidates who have already applied to succeed Steven Currall.

Ralph Wilcox, who has been with USF for nearly 20 years, has served as provost since 2008.

The USF Presidential Search Committee is expected to have candidates selected for the position by early next year.

An advocate with Save USF Forest Preserve doesn’t think the university is willing to sell the land, although she hopes Hillsborough County’s interest in preserving it reinforces their efforts.

Some speakers at a recent town hall want a consensus builder and problem solver, while others would prefer someone who knows both Florida's higher education and political systems.

The university is distributing a form that will assist in selecting a permanent replacement for Steven Currall.

“We are extremely disappointed that decisions to modify our approach are no longer being guided by science and data,” USF Faculty Senate President Timothy Boaz said.

Steven Currall’s tenure as president of the University of South Florida officially came to an end Monday. Tampa attorney Rhea Law will temporarily fill his position.

The former chair of the University of South Florida's Board of Trustees is slated to become interim president Monday.

Martin Tadlock was asked to postpone his departure as regional chancellor of the University of South Florida’s St. Petersburg campus until June 2022.

Currall only lasted two years in the position before announcing his resignation last week. He leaves next month but will remain on campus as a professor.
