About 1400 of the almost 3000 students graduating from the USF System this summer are expected to attend Commencement ceremonies on the Tampa campus Saturday.
University officials estimate 2948 degrees will be awarded to graduates from the three campuses in Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sarasota-Manatee: 1923 bachelor’s degrees, 893 master’s degrees, and 132 doctoral and specialist degrees. '
According to a release from the university, there will be two separate ceremonies at the USF Sun Dome on the Tampa campus:
The Saturday 9 a.m. ceremony will recognize graduates from: • USF St. Petersburg – bachelor’s and master’s degrees, all colleges • USF Tampa – bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from the following colleges: Arts and Sciences and Behavioral and Community Sciences. The Saturday 1:30 p.m. ceremony will recognize graduates from: • USF Sarasota-Manatee, bachelor’s and master’s degrees, all colleges • USF Tampa – bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from the following colleges: Business, Education, Engineering, Graduate Studies, Marine Science, Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, The Arts and Undergraduate Studies.
Two local entrepreneurs will be honored at the ceremonies: Lee Arnold (USF graduate, 1974), the founder and CEO of the Arnold Companies will receive the President’s Fellow Medallion during the morning session, while Harvey Kaylie, founder and CEO of Mini-Circuits will receive an Honorary Doctor of Engineering degree during the afternoon event.
