With roles in films like Unstoppable, Seven Pounds and Men in Black II, Rosario Dawson is known for drawing moviegoers to the box office. But these days, the actress is more interested in drawing voters to the polls.
To that end, on Wednesday evening Dawson kicked off the USF University Lecture Series in the Marshall Student Center Ballroom. The Tampa appearance was overdue for Dawson, chairwoman of the nonpartisan voter registration organization Voto Latino. She'd been scheduled for an appearance during last month's Republican National Convention but canceled due to illness, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
Dawson's speech was part of the USF University Lecture Series, a program of talks in the Marshall Student Center Ballroom. The lectures are free and open to the public, with priority seating given to USF students.
