After hosting the Bulls last year, you'd think the Birmingham Bowl would remember University of South Florida's name.
You'd be wrong.
Ads for the official bowl game apparel came out this week, bearing the name "South Florida University."
Shortly after the error was pointed out - on social media - officials with the Birmingham Bowl released a statement via Twitter:
We have recently been made aware that there is a graphic misrepresentation of a T-shirt on the Birmingham Bowl Merch Site. Please rest assured that the T-shirt had not been produced, and the image is now being corrected. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

"We have recently been made aware that there is a graphic misrepresentation of a T-shirt on the Birmingham Bowl Merch Site. Please rest assured that the T-shirt had not been produced, and the image is now being corrected. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."
And officials from USF Athletics were quick to speak out as well in a Tuesday afternoon statement:
"We appreciate the Birmingham Bowl’s swift response in correcting an error by an outside vendor producing bowl merchandise, which occurred without the pre-approval of USF or the bowl. We accept the bowl’s apology and look forward to another fantastic game on Dec. 23."
The USF Bulls (9-2, 6-2 American Conference) will take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders (6-6, 3-6 Big 12) on Saturday, Dec. 23 at noon.
