Growing up in the 60s and 70s, Peter and Susan Betzer knew about homosexuality, but it wasn’t openly discussed. It wasn’t until both of their daughters came out as lesbians that they were confronted with how to feel about issues of gay rights on a very personal level. In this interview for StoryCorps Tampa Bay, their daughter, Katherine, now a gay activist, talks with them about what parenting two gay women has been like.
StoryCorps Tampa Bay airs every Monday on WUSF 89.7 at 8:35 a.m. during Morning Edition and at 5:44 p.m. during All Things Considered.
