After months of unrelenting and nasty political ads, Florida’s gubernatorial race has come to an end. RepublicanGov. Rick Scott was reelected Tuesday night.

It was a long night for each candidate’s staff and supporters.

The margin between Scott and his Democratic opponent Charlie Crist was razor thin up until the very end.

Scott eventually won with fewer than 80,000 more votes than Crist.

After chatter Crist was possibly going to ask for a recount, Scott announced the race had come to an end.

“The campaign is over,” Scott said.

The two candidates were locked in a nasty race for months.

But, Scott told his room of supporters at the Hyatt in Bonita Springs that he was going to return to governing again.

“Tomorrow however marks a new day,” he said. “It’s time to put all the division behind us and come together.”

Scott said he would continue to work on bringing jobs to Florida as well as continue the work he started four years ago.
