A bill passed by the Senate Regulated Industries Committee Wednesday could open the door in Florida for smaller scale cosmetic companies. The measure would repeal a rule requiring registration with the state for individual products before a cosmetic can be repackaged or sold. Petersburg Republican Sen. Jeff Brandes (R-St. Petersburg) is behind the measure.
“Florida requires each manufactured product to be individually registered and listed even if all we’re doing is changing the color of that product. This bill would bring Florida in line with many of our other states as far as regulation and with federal standards on this issue,” Brandes says.
Brandes says the measure could significantly reduce fees paid by cosmetic manufacturers.
