Electrical Fire Causes Evacuation At Pasco County Hospital

Google Maps

Officials say firefighters evacuated at least 20 patients from a hospital in Hudson after an electrical fire.

Pasco County spokesman Doug Tobin says an electrical fire that started in Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point's generator room knocked out power to most of the building Wednesday evening.

The fire has been extinguished, but the power loss means patients in the most critical condition must be evacuated. Tobin says nearly 300 patients may also be moved.

Dozens of ambulances are responding to help transport patients. Officials are working to restore power.
