Two bills to help the state’s foster kids are now heading to the Governor’s desk.
One of Sen. Aaron Bean’s (R-Fernandina Beach) bills gives a free annual pass to Florida’s foster care families who want to go to a state park.
“And, a little extra bonus, they’re going to get half price camp sites, because nothing brings a family together like spending some time at our state parks,” he said.
And, Bean says his bill also provides a one-time free annual state park entrance pass to families who adopt special needs kids.
“Just know, foster parents everywhere, how much the Florida Senate and the Florida Legislature as well as the state of Florida cares about what you do for kids and we all say, ‘Thank you,’” he added.
The House and Senate passed that measure this week. This month, they also sent another bill by Sen. Bean to Governor Rick Scott making permanent a program to make it easier for the state’s foster kids to obtain a driver’s license and car insurance. The Governor has until Wednesday to act on that bill.
