A veritable who’s who of Tallahassee’s political and business leaders are being swept up in a federal investigation of the Community Redevelopment Agency and some of its biggest projects.
According to the Tallahassee Democrat, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Attorney have demanded emails and other documents from Adam Corey, developer of the city-backed Edison Restaurant and a former campaign treasurer for Mayor Andrew Gillum.
John “J.T.” Burnette, who worked on a major project at the Hotel Duval, Kim Rivers, a principal with InkBridge and CEO of Trulive, the medical marijuana dispensary, and Paige Carter-Smith, executive director of the Downtown Improvement Authority, also received subpoenas, the newspaper reported.
A campaign spokesman for Gillum, who is running for governor, told the newspaper in an email that the city will respond fully and completely. He also expressed his hopes that the situation is resolved quickly.
