“I will be moving to Washington D.C. to serve as the director of AmeriCorps,” said Spellman. “I’ve been appointed by President Trump, and it’s an honor to serve him in his administration. I’d like to thank all of you for all of our service, and Governor, thank you very much for the opportunity to serve in your administration.”

For the past six and a half years, Spellman has held the post as CEO of Volunteer Florida, the state’s lead agency for volunteerism and community service. His last day is next Friday, August 25. Meanwhile, Spellman is slated to take over AmeriCorps at a time when President Trump’s budget plan has threatened to eliminate the national service agency.
