Florida Governor Rick Scott has set a date for the execution of Michael Lambrix.

Just a week after executing its first prisoner in more than a year and a half, Florida is readying for another.

Governor Rick Scott has selected October 5 for carrying out Michael Lambrix’s death sentence.  Lambrix is on death row for the 1983 murders of Aleisha Bryant and Clarence Moore Jr.

The jury didn’t unanimously recommend death for Lambrix in either of the killings—which is the standard now.  Because Lambrix’s case concluded before a court-imposed 2002 cut-off, justices on the Florida Supreme Court denied a new round of hearings.
