The incoming leader of Florida’s Senate Democrats, Jeff Clemens, announced his resignation Friday evening.
The announcement follows news about an affair between Clemens and a lobbyist. In a statement Clemens says “all women deserve respect, and by my actions, I feel I have failed that standard. I have to do better.” Clemens says he will focus on being a better husband and father—something he feels he’ll be better able to do outside of elected office.
