Comcast customers should soon see fewer internet streaming bottlenecks.
The company says it is increasing the speeds of its internet tiers over the next several weeks in Florida.
Download speeds for the company's Xfinity Blast tier will rise from 75 megabits per second (Mbps) to 100 Mbps, while Performance tier speeds will more than double, going from 25 Mbps to 60 Mbps.
Customers of the Performance Starter tier will see a boost from 10 Mbps to 25 Mbps, according to a Comcast news release.
The broadband provider is also launching 2 gigabit and 1 gigabit-per-second home internet services.
"Boosting internet speeds, building out our Wi-Fi and fiber networks and introducing innovative new services like xFi and Xfinity Gigabit are all examples of how we are delivering more value for our customers and enhancing their online experience," said Amy Smith, senior vice president for Comcast's Florida Region.
To get the higher speeds, customers may need to re-start their modems, which can be done manually or through the Xfinity My Account app.
