The Constitution Revision Commission is considering a handful of education proposals.

There are three potential amendments, all offered by Commissioner Erika Donalds.

One would require the state boards of education, trustees, governors, and local school board members to serve in their posts on a volunteer basis.  Members could still be reimbursed for travel.

Donalds also wants to make school superintendent an appointed position selected by the school board.  Her last proposal would place an eight year term limit on school board members.

If the Commission OKs the ideas they’ll go to the ballot, and they’ll need the support of 60 percent of Florida voters before becoming law.
