Floridians have until Sunday to file a claim against three rental car companies for wrongfully charging them for its e-Toll services.
If you rent an Avis car and don’t pay cash on any of Florida’s toll roads, you automatically opt into the e-toll service run by Avis Budget Car Rental System LLC.
It owns Avis, Budget, and Payless rental car companies.
According to a settlement agreement reached by the Florida Attorney General’s Office, the rental car companies must now disclose that to their customers, and tell them they could be charged a daily fee via that e-Toll service. That’s on top of the actual cost of the toll.
Now, rental car company customers of Avis, Budget, and Payless have until Sunday to file to get a refund check to reimburse them for those extra charges. More than a million in refunds have been given out so far.
To be eligible to file the claim, customers must have been wrongfully charged for the e-Toll service during January 1, 2010 through July 10 of last year.
