Tuesday is National Voter Registration Day, marking two weeks before Florida’s deadline to register. Those interested can get registered at a number of locations throughout the day.

Leon County’s Supervisor of Elections wants the public to know they can register, or update their current registration at five locations. All three local universities and colleges will have locations, as well as the Supervisor’s main office and Piggly Wiggly Supermarket.

While supervisors of elections try to get voters registered, many other organizations will do the same. Nathan Davis, field organizer for Florida State University’s student chapter of the political organization NextGen America, will be on campus getting his peers signed up.

"It’s super easy, it takes under two minutes., It’s just some basic information – their address name, their Florida driver’s license and the last four of their social," Davis said.

Since he started at the post in January, Davis says the group has registered about 2,000 students. He says his peers are tuned into the issues.

"They're very passionate about issues like gun control, climate change and college affordability," Davis said. "So we want to make sure they're able to vote and have a say in those things, because they're equally entitled to that."

Voters can also register online with the Florida Department of State at dos.myflorida.com. Updates can be done alongside driver’s license renewals or changes.
