On this week's Florida Roundup we look at the proposed "citizens amendment."

The amendment would replace the words "every citizen can vote," to say "only a citizen can vote." This could be on the ballot for Florida voters in 2020.

The Florida Constution already prohibits non-citizens of Florida from voting, raising questions about the need and reasoning for the amendment.

Our guests for the discussion were:

  • Reporter Amy Gardner of the Washington Post, who has been covering the proposed citizen amendment for Florida
  • Republican State Representative James Grant

Florida Guardianship Program Under Investigation

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating whether a court appointed caretaker should face criminal charges for signing a do-not-resuscitate order for a man who did not want one. That man later died.

Now, Governor Ron DeSantis is calling for state agencies to vigorously scrutinize the guardianship program.

Editor for the Justice and Safety team Jeff Weiner with The Orlando Sentinel covered the case. He joined us from WMFE.
