thewelcomethemovie.org

All are welcome to a free screening of the documentary film The Welcome, which tracks veterans and their families through a five-day retreat that transforms the experience of war into "the beauty of poetry."

"Sometimes our wounds may (be) visible but often times, they are invisible. We have come together as a community and we are healing together," wrote Kiersten Downs, president of the University of South Florida Student Veterans Association.

"We would be honored if you could join us for this powerful documentary screening. This will also be an opportunity to speak with student veterans and learn more about who we are and and what kind of work we are involved in at the USF campus and in the larger Tampa community."

Downs extended the open invitation to all veterans, other college students and staff, as well as the general public.

WHEN: Wednesday, Feb. 27 starting at 2 p.m.

WHERE: University of South Florida Tampa campus, the Oval Theater in the Marshall Student Center, 4202 E. Fowler Ave., Tampa, Fla.

The special film screening will include an introduction by Michael Dakduk, executive director of Student Veterans of America, Additionally, the SVA and the USF Office of Veteran Services will be launching the Got Your 6 Campus Success Network prior to the film. Refreshments and a chance to meet and talk with veterans will follow.
