ReporterI focus on education and health in the Tampa Bay region. My favorite kind of stories are people-centric, and luckily, almost all stories on my beat are.
Over the past few years, I’ve told stories that have helped shape my work at WUSF. I’ve reported on seniors and aging for the Tampa Bay Times, the pandemic for the Miami Herald, and local government and other breaking news for the Palm Beach Post.
So far I’ve traveled to Cuba to cover the illegal Hawksbill sea turtle trade, reported from a canoe on the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, and hung out with tennis star Coco Gauff at teen phenom’s family’s sports bar.
I believe loving where you live is a big part in living a well-rounded life. And this place makes me happy. I spend most of my free time outside at our incredible parks and beaches, exploring new neighborhoods with my chocolate lab, and eating an ungodly amount of ice cream.

The committees held their first meeting Tuesday night. They consist of 34 adults including parents and community members, and 15 high school juniors and seniors. -
There have been multiple local incidents recently, including one at the University of South Florida in Tampa and one in Sarasota. -
Proposal author Rep. Randy Fine, R-Palm Bay said the curriculum is expensive. Not only does the state pay the Florida Virtual School for courses, but districts also get money for their virtual courses. -
While many Florida school districts are facing complaints about books deemed inappropriate for minors, not all officials are in full support of banning them. -
The possible pay raises for school bus drivers was discussed the same day the Florida House approved slashing funding for Hillsborough County and 11 other school districts. -
One Tampa Bay county is getting ready to vote on keeping a school tax in place, while another is considering a similar option. -
The bill would prohibit discussions about gender identity or sexual orientation in primary grade levels. -
Going forward, parents will be notified a week before these lessons and can pull their student out of discussions on certain subjects — or the whole lesson -
A Florida lawmaker wants to cut $200 million from school districts that enforced student mask mandates, including Hillsborough and Sarasota counties. -
Pinellas County Schools removed "Gender Queer: A Memoir" from general circulation at two of its schools, saying the graphic novel was not age appropriate for all high school students.
