The St. Petersburg Pier will undergo a name change and reconstruction over the course of the next year and the city is thinking about accepting bids for naming rights, according to the Business Observer.
Tampa Bay Editor, Brian Hartz doesn’t think they are going to rename the pier itself.
“It’s my understanding that they’ll have discreet sponsorship opportunities on particular parts of the facility, I don’t think it’s going to have a major corporate sponsor with its name emblazoned on everything.”
Hartz goes on to talk about the city council-approved business deal between Big 3 Entertainment, a company that offers many services such as venue management, and Crown Automotive Group.
“That’s where I got the story idea is from an article about a parking garage at the Mahaffey Theater. It was being renamed after Crown Automotive.”
The Business Observer says the Tampa Bay area seems to be in agreement with this new string of name changes especially in the city of St. Pete.
