Starting June 8, Clearwater Marine Aquarium will host three, 8-week-old capybaras in a new Capybara Chillout event, in partnership with Amazing Animals, Inc. Join us in welcoming these adorable newbies to their habitat between June 8 and July 7, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, while experiencing their friendly personalities and learning about their natural behaviors.  

Originally from Central and South America, capybaras are found in marshy areas, where they can swim and eat plenty of vegetation. These highly social mammals are primarily threatened by human actions like deforestation, habitat destruction and illegal poaching. The presence of capybaras at Clearwater Marine Aquarium will enable guests to interact with and learn about these unique animals as part of CMA’s educational outreach efforts and conservation initiatives.
