Experience Japanese Arts and Culture at the 47th Annual St. Petersburg International Folk Fair

The Consulate General of Japan in Miami is pleased to announce its participation, representing Japan, at the 47th Annual St. Petersburg International Folk Fair in downtown St. Petersburg. This exciting annual event celebrates the great variety of cultures that reside within the Tampa Bay community.

There will be a presentation by professional origami artist Ms. Kuniko Yamamoto at 11:40 a.m., as well as an address from Japan’s Cultural Attaché to Florida, Consul Irisawa Kenichiro.

Moreover, the Japanese community will have a booth offered by the Japan-America Society of Tampa Bay in collaboration with the Japanese Consulate featuring activities such as name writing and origami. The booth will also have Japanese snacks for sale and FREE Niponica magazines (Japan’s Official Cultural periodical) available.

The fair is organized every year by the St. Petersburg International Folk Fair Society (SPIFFS), which is also responsible for operating the St. Petersburg sister cities and friendship cities programs with Takamatsu, Japan; Figueres, Spain; Isla Mujeres, Mexico; and St. Petersburg, Russia. Tickets are available through Eventbrite or at the door. For additional information, visit www.spiffs.org.
