It's been a good six months since Jon Stewart's Daily Show poked fun at Tampa's giant "palmetto bugs," and nearly three months since Saturday Night Live mocked local socialite Jill Kelley. So the bay area was about due for another national ribbing.
Enter House of Cards, the first original series from Netflix.
In the political drama, which debuted Feb. 1, Kevin Spacey plays what Sarasota Magazine describes as a "ruthless, manipulative congressman." It took only two episodes for the show to take a swipe at Sarasota, the mag reports, as Spacey's character described the difference between money and power:
“Money is the McMansion in Sarasota that falls apart after 10 years,” he said. “Power is the old stone building that stands for centuries.”
