WUSF News picked up a number of awards, including three first place honors, at the Associated Press Florida Broadcasters Awards Ceremony in Orlando this past weekend.
The WUSF News Team won First Place in the categories of "Continuing Coverage, Large Market Radio" for its coverage of the Republican National Convention and "Election Coverage, Large Market Radio" for its work on the 2012 Elections.
In addition, Steve Newborn took First Place in "Photo Essay, Large Market Radio" for his work on the Florida Wildlife Corridor Expedition.
Newborn also was a Finalist for "Investigative Story, Large Market Radio" for his story on a Post Office worker who got sick after opening a suspect package.
Bobbie O’Brien was a Finalist in two categories: "Best Series Reporting, Large Market Radio" for Off The Base, and "Best Sports Feature, Large Market Radio" for her story on veterans taking part in adaptive water sports.
Mark Schreiner was also a Finalist in the "Best Light Feature, Large Market Radio" for his University Beat report on USF's "STEM Superheroes."
