Busch Gardens Unveils Plans for Unique Thrill Ride

Busch Gardens Tampa

One person's worst nightmare is another person's thrill ride: imagine dropping, face-first, from a height of over 300 feet at 60 miles an hour. That's exactly what a new attraction at Busch Gardens promises to deliver.

The Tampa theme park released details about Falcon's Fury, the tallest freestanding (no connecting structures) drop tower in North America, on Tuesday.

According to a press release, Falcon's Fury will first lift riders 335 feet high (with a pretty cool view of the Tampa Bay area if the preview video is to be believed) before tilting them 90 degrees so they're facing directly down. Then they'll instantly fall 60 mph at 3.5 Gs straight down.

Busch Gardens' officials say construction on the ride has already begun in the Timbuktu section of the park, and should be completed in spring 2014.
