Give Day: Giving Back to Tampa Bay Nonprofits

fulfillyourdestiny.org

Twenty-four hours to make the Tampa Bay community better. That is what Give Day is all about, giving back to more than 350 nonprofits throughout the Bay area. The program originated in Minnesota and is now part of communities across the country.

This year is the 100th anniversary of community foundations in the United States, and this Tuesday, Tampa Bay will have its first ever Give Day.

Jocelyn Lister, Director of Give Day Tampa Bay for the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay, says Give Day is a chance for people to give online or at Give Day headquarters, located at the Tampa Bay WaVE, 400 N. Ashley Drive, 2nd floor.

"We have a huge big screen television that will be up with our leader board that day, constantly giving us fun stats about what the average gift is," she says, "where the furthest zip code where the gift has come from geographically, we will have volunteers making calls, we will have nonprofits stopping by, we have free massages, we have a photo booth, we will doing a live stream podcast, so that's really the hub of all of the activity."

Lister says they will use Miami's success as a benchmark, where they raised $1 million in November 2012 and $3.2 million in November 2013.
