Ben Zobrist Joins YMCA in Spreading Water Safety Awareness

Nathan Powell

The Tampa Bay Rays are involved with a lot of community service. Now you can add swimming safety to the list. Rays second baseman Ben Zobrist stopped by the South Tampa YMCA today.

"My wife Julianne and I have two kids, a five year old and a two year old. And it's so important for us to be careful with them around water,” Zobrist said. “We are always very conscious of that, and the PSA (public service announcement) stuff that I was able to do and some of the things that they talk about doing that families can do to prevent some of the accidental drownings is of the utmost importance when you are around the water with some of these kids.”

The goal of this initiative is to spread awareness and give everyone access to swimming lessons.
